Duncan's brightest humbucker?

Is it the Jazz?

Could be! Maybe followed by the 59?

I'd assume it would be one of the lower output alnico 5 humbuckers...

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

The JB is pretty bright, as is the Full Shred. Are we talking neck or bridge?

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

What do you call bright? The Jazz and 59 are both brighter than the JB, IMO, if "bright" implies an extended high end and upper harmonic content. Both the Jazz and the 59 have more upper harmonics than the JB. The JB has that pronounced upper midrange peak that can be a little penetrating on the ear drums...but the JB's high end is not quite as extended as the high end of the Jazz or 59, IMO. Lew

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

?? Lew, I assume that you mean Jazz and ´59 for the most part, or??

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

Yep...that was a typo. I hear the Jazz and 59 as both having a more extended high end and more upper harmonic content than the JB. More sparkle from the Jazz and 59 too, IMO.

The JB is "bright" if "bright" means a penetrating upper midrange. But "bright", to me, means more upper harmonics and an extended high end, not just a penetrating tone.

Thanks! Lew

My vote would go to the Scremin Demon bridge and the Pearly gates or Full Shred neck.

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

a full shred neck in the bridge slot could possibly sterilize you I think, it would be that bright.

if you're thinking bright-->trebly, IMO look towards ceramic mags.. DD, dimebucker and invader..

+1

Also worth re-mentioning is the full shreds.

Re: Duncan's brightest humbucker?

Ceramics are definitly brighter! I've owned many Duncans and my vote would be the Dimebucker.
