I've got a '94 Fender Duo Sonic ... I put a Fender Vintage Noiseless in the neck position, and a SD Hot rails in the Bridge position. Both pickups sound great in when played seperately. When played together they are really tinny...I suspect they are out of phase. Am I correct in thinking that this is the case and that the fix is to switch the wires on neck pickup (the noiseless) so that the opposite is grounded and current ground is power?

This is my first project and I am learning one thing at a time.

Yep, you have to flip the wires on one of them.

BTW, how is the string spacing with the Noiseless at the neck? Do all the strings line up?

the reason I ask is because I have a '65 Duo that I put a CR/HR combo in it, but I might be looking for something with more of a true single coil tone, but am worried that a non-railed strat pickup won't line up well with the very narrow string spacing on my Duo-Sonic.

Thanks for the reply. I actually have grown to like the weird sound of the out-of-phase pickups. It's tinny, but really it just sounds like the guitar is unplugged...and may be nice for acoustic intros etc...

If you are placing the noiseless in the neck position, which I believe is slanted (at least it is on mine) I'm sure you will be fine. All the strings are dead center on the heads except the high E which is only slightly high of dead center. I strongly recommend this pickup, it sounds amazing and compliments the hot rails well. I got mine off Ebay for about 20 bucks I think and I couldn't be happier.

Now I can play Layla, and American Idiot the same night :headbang:
