Earcandy vs Genz-Benz

Is Earcandy Buzzbomb worth the extra cash over the Genz? The make some big boasts on the website but I've never heard one. Is it all true?

Re: Earcandy vs Genz-Benz

I personally don't like the genz benz guitar cabs, they're a little flabby and not all that articulate to my ears. My Buzzbomb on the other hand is the best sounding cab I've ever played my head or any other head through for that matter. It gives all frequencies a big clean articulate boost and depending on what speakers you decide to put in it, it will never fart the bass frequencies. Also a big +1 for Tim Paulson, he'll work with the tone you want to acheive in order to find a speaker combination that really suits your needs.

they're more than a genz benz? how much are they?

On the website they're $349 unloaded. There is a G-Flex on ebay for $295. I've got the speakers to load in the Earcandy cab and the G-flex has Vintage 30s

CALL TIM! I have a Buzzbomb also and it is THE BEST cab I have played through. You won't be sorry.

Re: Earcandy vs Genz-Benz

A guy I jam with had the Genz and he tried his head through my mesa cab and promptly sold his Genz.. couldn't get squat for it either. Admittedly, the Mesa cab cost a ton more but hey... whadda ya expect? Free lunch?

Never tried the buzzbomb.

Re: Earcandy vs Genz-Benz

Well that's Earcandy 2 and G-flex 0. I'm a little afraid of 2x12's because I have an Avatar 2x12 that I thought sounded ok until I a/b'd it with my 4x12 and it came up real thin. The Avatar even had a V30/G12H30 mix.

Earcandy touts themselves as the best and that their cabs smoke any 2x12 and stand up to most 4x12s. I'd love to hear one but it's not like you can go to GC and hook it up, LOL. I'll probably check one out after the new year when I can hopefully afford one.
