Not a match, assuming all vintage wilshires had the same bouts, arms, headcaps.

Wow. I never came across a specific make/model of guitar that changed such distinguishing characteristics from one year to the next or from one to another variant. Tremotone or bigsby yeah but not radically different headcap and arms. It'd be like slapping a 3x3 head, a PRS type body, and a SSS configuration on a strat and calling it a 'Strat Pro' or something!
Yeeeks !!

Guitars are interesting but every time I see a picture of him I am amazed at how big his hands are.

Re: Early Hendrix Guitar?

It's definitely a Wilshire, no question. The other guitarist is holding a Gibson Melody Maker, I think.

The guitar Rory posted is an Acoustic (Control) Black Widow. Fun guitar.

You mean like how the '57-'58-'59-'60 Les Paul became the '61 Les Paul with the SG body style?

Re: Early Hendrix Guitar?

well those examples don't really count cause no one cares when they hack up the recognizable features of low end furniture-like abominations like les pauls but leo knew you couldn't improve upon heavenly perfection and so left the Strat unmolested save for little angel touches !

Re: Early Hendrix Guitar?

Love that Florentine

Jerry has a double cut Gibson with a hockey stick Explorer headstock

plays like a dream, odd looking tho

It 's an oddball for sure Ehdwuld. The reason it plays great is becasue the great Frank Falbo did a refret that was master crafted and now it's without question the best playing guitar I have ever touched, and Ive touched a lot of great old intruments that played fantastic, but this one is juist absolutely superb in every way, shape, form , function, and manner..

The Episode coronet, Wilshire, Crestwood changed pretty much every year it was produced. Pickups, bridge, pickguard, headstock, body shape, and body contour all changed but not in the same year.
