Easiest/cheapest way to get an Appetite for Destruction (like) Les Paul?

I loved the original Derrig guitar and kick myself yearly for not buying the Appetite for Destruction Les Paul back in 2010 when it was released....

Obviously a set of APH-2s and Witch Hat knobs will go a long way, but what would be a good starting point? An R9 VOS in Lemon Drop looks great but it’s at least as much as the Slash guitar on the 2nd hand market.

Amber flame Epiphone? With A2P's...

I used to have a MIK Epiphone LP100 that was a surprising percentage of the way there. Bone nut, A2P bridge, 59A2 neck... Someday I’ll get another LP-ish guitar with A2 pickups, and the first thing it’s going to have to do is top my memory of that $299 Epiphone.

I have the Standard Plus Top Pro with the Pro Buckers and jamming the Welcome to The Jungle riff sounds pretty close.

Back when G'n'R first hit the scene Slash was referred to by many as "The Man With No Eyes"..... He pretty much put Gibson back in the game when super-Strats seemed poised to take over all rock music. I'm surprised (and pleased) to know he is still influential all these years down the road.

Just keep an eye out for a nice lemon drop. No need to spend R9 money when an amber standard will do

Let me clarify a bit...

I’ve got an Epiphone Les Paul already, when I put APH-1s in it sounds great, and this isn’t a quest to achieve the Slash tone (although I do like it)

This is about this specific guitar, and how it looks.

I’m thinking actual Gibson, what finishes and models might come close? Might you find a highly figured Traditional in something like Lemonburst, Lemon Drop or Amber?

I just picked up this trans amber Standard that I will be putting Zebras into this coming week. I have a 78' bridge and a APH neck I think will make it rock! s-l1600.jpg

Amber or Lemon Burst. I see them listed both ways. Damn Ayrton, those last two Standards were killer. Where did you find those?
