Ebay relics WHY WHY WHY?

Re: Ebay relics WHY WHY WHY?

seems like everyone with a beat to hell piece of crap is caling it a "relic". Thats B.S. A relic is a newer instrument made to appear like an older one through studied ageing techniques. I like a good relic. I think they are great for looking like vintage Strats on stage where a new start would look kind of stupid.I'm not saying someone cant be succsseful relicing a guitar, BUT...
I dont want to hear someones beat up guitar is a "relic"!

Agreed. Looks like a botched up refin to me. If I were to relic that I would of done something about the phallic looking headstock too.

Thing is, this is probably a great sounding and playing guitar.

I'd buy it if I wouldn't have too much of that stuff already ;)

The thing that concerns me is that a Blazer is highly sought after?

Not all Blazers.

The natural Ash with hard tail is among the best Strats you can buy in any price range (if you like the thin neck with small frets in a flat fretboard). But there are models with different neck pockets (real 22 frets with no overhang), mahogany bodies and other wired stuff.

No idea about this tremolo model, but it is Alder to start from. As I said, if I wouldn't have too much of this already I'd hit it. Sad that they to paint the headplate. Would look funky on a hot pink body :)

Re: Ebay relics WHY WHY WHY?

During my brief stay at a university, a buddy of mine showed me around his fraternity. One of his proudest exhibitions was a rather aged looking plaque dedicating the house bar to "fallen members in wars past." He then went on to describe the process of "relic'ing" it:
We whopped it with a chain a few times and let it sit outside for a week to make it look like it had been here for a few years. The university let us keep the bar after they saw this.

Yeah, studied aging techniques...right.
