I just scored an original Bixonic Expandora in the original box for the opening bid of $119.99! I have been putting off getting one of these for years now...

No real point to the post, just excited!

the Expandora is a Dirtbox that does 3 flavors of crunch...Billy Gibbons used one all over the most recent 3 ZZ Top records.

Cool score...Memory tells me the original versions were bright and lacking the lows?Might need some mods? LOL

They were a little lacking in the lows...I didn't think that they were overly bright but the lack of lows might make it seem so. I have tried several of them as well as the "2001's", the 2001's has an extented bass response but to me they sounded muddy I guess everybody's ears are different...

I actually got to demo that pedal( a reissue) along with a ton of other pedals. We had a jam with some friends and one of our teachers today in our schools theater and I got to try out all of his stuff like an original 58 goldtop, 61 sg RI, 59 RI, JTM45 through 2 pre rola loaded 4x12s!!! not to mention countless boutique pedals. And I also got to put my orange ad30 head in place of his 45 through his rig and I think I actually prefered it over the 45!!
and we got it started with a 25 minute jam on steppin' out!

sorry for the hijack, that was kinda a message for christian!

but yeah, I liked the expandora, most of the settings we got were different fuzzes, some more useful than others. then one setting was a straight up zz top overdrive tone! very cool

Bro, I am so glad you are liking your Orange! I almost got an Orange head over my vibrolux but I really wanted a nice, smaller package with good cleans but mostly good, natural overdrive...hopefully that's what I'll get...if not that Orange head is still close by!

As for the Expandora...I have used them before but I've never owned one...I really like them but Im not sure how much everyday use it will get.

BTW...how was that Goldtop?!
