Echo stuff in the works....

Testing a prototype we made some time ago, it had modulation installed later on, we made it a dirty gritty echo...I am not the biggest fan of clinical percussive delays.
It has a short'ish bright echo and a longer more dark echo, each can be turned on/off indvidually.
Will stuff in a relay bypass later on, can be switched between that and a buffered bypass that trails.
Don't mind the box, this is just a prototype made on leftover stuff from another place I used to work ;)
Here is a link to a clip.

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

;) Hehe I think there might be just enough for anyone who wants one of these things... :D

Anyways here is a longish clip of the Dead Dog disto box as its prototype name is...
Used my Ibanez 540 with L-500's for this one.
Just going through some settings on the fly.
It is a multistage thing, it has input gain, a tone and a variable midrange knob, a master volume for the overall sound, one dirt knob, and another knob for a different kind of dirt, this version also have a switch for a steep cut when engaged.
Mostly for fun, it is the same sound, just cut down severely, for a lower volume and a distant feel to it....dunno if we will keep it.
Anyways this is not a smooth polite box.....
It can make some nice tones if needed, but it was made to be one rude'ish dead stinking dog ;)

We had an old version of this one, it could make the most dizzying squarewaves and some very machine like disto....but we deemed it too crazy, so we went a slightly different route with this thing..

Mostly we set out to erradicate that stiff feel you get with dirtboxes( I am into the amps own overdrive, because the feel alive to me).
Got something out of this one that I like....mostly because it is a fun thing to play, which also one of the main points of this endeavour.
We have worked on this thing on and off for almost a decade....
Had some fun times...
This thing seems to be what we ended up doing, it is what we learned through out the years of tinkering....we where just having fun exploring different ideas, never was all that serious about getting it finished.

But ever since I made my own small company, my mates and me have been churning out some fun stuff...well at least we are having fun :D
Oh well enough chit chat...here is one clip!

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Do you have a tracking number for mine yet?

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

;)
And the dirt pedal with some backing and different guitars.
First the Ibanez RR540

Then the Tele, same track.

Same settings, only volume was turned up to match the output of the Ibanez.

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Update on the chop chop wave machine ;)

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Not unlike the BOSS SL-20 Slicer. :fingersx:

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Haha yeah and it does more...
Not unlike the BOSS SL-20 Slicer
Well the first incarnation of the chop chop as we normally call it, we made in the early 2000's.
All three of us likes Trance and such music....and chopping and funny waves is something we all dig.
Anyways this thing is not digital though.

Made a few different versions.....put it to rest some years ago, and brought back to life again a few years ago.
Now we will get into gear and finish it, hopefully sometime next year?

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

My first introduction to the Roland/BOSS Slice/Slicer was in the effects sections of MIDI synthesizer modules. Obviously, in that form, both the effect and its control parameters are entirely digital. The greatest advantage of this is the ability to synchronise to song tempo pointer data.

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Yeah....
Anyways on these things, everything is manuel and nontap tempo non synced.
On the chop chop thing there is an expression pedal that can be attached, two tempo modes, fast and slow.

Most others makes that synced stuff, we do not have much intrest in that...so we went this way....
And they will also be made in small numbers...

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

I have always found tap tempo to be a bit ridiculous -- you should be able to tell if your pedal is in time with the music! Yes, I realize it saves the trouble of having to bend all the way over to the pedal to adjust the tempo ... but I have also found that 99% of the time, no one notices or cares. :)

Re: Echo stuff in the works....

Had my first tap tempo back then on a DD-5 and my old 2290....
Did not keep any of them in the long run....
Besides music breathes...and the time goes abit up and down....well unless you play with a machine.
:)
