EDWARDS JIMMYPAGE LESPAUL or GIBSON?

I want one of those distressed JINNYPAGE LESPAULS(EDWARDS) on Ebay--they're $1175.w/S&H...I REALLY WANT ONE!!

BUT then I realized--I could get a REAL Gibsonlespaulstandard for anywere from $1200-1500 USED on Ebay--

OR I could get an EDWARDS Honeyburst lespaul(same color as Jimmypagelespaul)----UNdistressed for $775.w/S&H....that's $400. cheaper than Jimmypage model!!!

----WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

I'd say get the Gibson. Mr Page didn't play an Edwards, did he? And why would you want his guitar, and not rockman23's guitar? Get a LP Standard or whatever, and play the crap out of it.

If you are looking at the same seller as I was on ebay, The edwards guitars are returnable. Just because Gibson is on the Headstock doesn't mean it is going to be good. I would say, if the edwards is returnable, get the edwards honeyburst les paul and try it. You have to get your hands on anything you are going to buy.

Get a used Heritage for $800 or so. I know that's not what you're asking, but I'd be much more comfortable buying a Heritage without playing it than either of those two.

I guess I've never been a fan of having someone's signature guitar, especially if it's relic'd to look exactly like that guitarist's original. The Edwards are returnable, but I believe you have to pay for shipping. That's another 125 out of your pocket. Another reason I said Gibson would be for (IMO, or at least from all the ebay listings I've seen) a higher resale value.

Order the Edwards from another Japanese dealer. The sellers on ebay ALWAYS price the signature models higher than what you can pay by ordering from another dealer in japan. I can order the Edwards JP for around $860.

those edwards jp relics are sweet! but too much cash, just get the edwards standard and relic it yourself!

I've had both the Edwards 105LPS (JP model) and the 90LTS (on which the JP is based). The neck and body binding on the 90LTS was of a lesser quality, and the finish had some bleed areas around the neck joint. The JP was definitely better crafted, and perhaps because the distressing is, supposedly, hand-finished by a human, the JP just felt more comfortable.

BTW The Gibson JP has a much thinner neck with a custom profile, which many people, including me find uncomfortable. The Edwards has a 59-ish neck profile which I prefer.

I'd buy a used Gibson USA Standard if it were me. When it comes down to it, the Edwards, Grecos, Burnys, Orvilles etc... are all clones of what you really want.

Why not get a Tele or a doublecut Danelectro?

Jimmy Page played those too, ya know. A new MIA Highway 1 Texas Tele would cost less than a used LP Standard, anywho. It's got a vintage 3 saddle Tele bridge and a 12-inch radius on the fretboard. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Just my two cents, though.

if u want it to sound like a jimmy page les paul just rewire it and change the pickups and save heaps of CASH.

-I'm not too crazy about HERITAGE guitar's Headstock(doesn'tdoitforme).
But, they sound like really good guitars(so they say)

-I'm thinkin' goin the WARMOTH route, maybe...

If not I'll just get the HONEYBURST EDWARDS for $649.+125.=$775. & JimmyPage it myself..$775.still sounds like ALOT, I could just add 400 or 500. & get GIBSON.

I still haven't figured this one out.

The comment about OTHER Japan stores selling Edwards Jimmypage for about $825.00--what OTHER stores, I've looked & couldn't find em...
