EHX Freeze: Effects Knob Too Sensitive

Is there a simple mod, like a resistor change, or replacing the 50kΩ pot with a different taper, that would make the effects level knob a bit less sensitive to minute movements?

Currently I have to be ultra precise when dialing in a preferred effects level on the fly: the potentiometer is hyper-sensitive and the slightest turn quickly overshoots to either extremely loud or too soft effects level, overpowering the dry signal or barely competing with it.

To get to anywhere close to a 1:1 dry/effect ratio, the knob sits at the first 1/4 of its full range, which to me shows that a lot of dial range is wasted that could be used to fine tune levels a bit easier.

Welcome to EHX world lol, they are definitely the pedal company that can perplex at times -their preferences are sometimes head scratchers for me.

Many of their wilder digital pedals are often too inherently noisy for my tastes - guessing thats a factor of getting them to a reasonable price point.

Sure, you can change the pot from linear to audio taper or vice versa -check what it is -and also resistor values -but without the circuit diagram you would just have to play around. If complex, I like to mock up my changes first in a circuit simulation software first often -there are plenty of free and freeish ones online.

The lazy man's solution would be to just put a bigger knob on the pot. That way you get better fine tuning and don't have to modify anything.

I received several paths to a solution.
First try-out: parallel the 50k pot with a 50kΩ or smaller resistor. Second suggestion: put a 100kΩ resistor in series with one of the legs of the pot. I will report back.

That only kind of works, as the wiper diameter and strip width inside the pot is still the same so you are only improving granularity a little bit...

but it is a good idea for easy almost instant improvement.

If you don't care about looks, a big old chicken head knob would sure help. Without looking at the circuit I can't tell you exactly what your two mods do, but my best guess is one of them gets rid of the upper range of travel of the pot, and the other gets rid of the lower.
