I looked on the Groove Tube website and they didn't list the "L" version. I'm sure they're interchangeable. My Crate Vintage Club uses EL84's and I've tried various versions through Groove Tube, with no problem.
Actually, now that I think of it, the EL84 & E84L should be the same. I've seen EL34's listed as EL34 and E34L on the GT website and they're identical.
On the Tubemonger website they show the L version and it appears to be just a longer tube.

I haven't heard of the E-84L's, but I know that with E-34L's, they're 10% higher output than EL-34's. And they're interchangeable, but you've got to bias it a little hotter.
On my Biasing the Jubilee thread, you'll notice I settled on 40mA, rather than 38mA, and the reason is that those tubes are E-34L's.

When the L is moved to the back of the numbers it indicates that the tubes are military grade. For example E34L is the same tube as EL34, except that someone somewhere decided that it was of a good enough standard for military applications. I read it somewhere when I was looking at a set of E34L for my TSL.
