Sounds to me damned close to an 85, with a touch of 81 in it.

They we're designed to sound like aa mix between the two, and do it well. ****ing amazing pickups.

The 707 does indeed sound like a mix between an 81 & 85.
I got 2 prototype 707's from my friend Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory) who was actually the one who first had EMG make the first 7 string pups. I had them put in my custom shop Carvin DC727 and to sum it up, on the low strings, it sounds like an 85 and on the high strings, it sounds like an 81 but these pups have even MORE gain (Distortion) than either the 81 or 85.

I don't know if you'll like 'em since they sound too much like an 81 & 85 and I remember how much of a nonconformist you are n' all !!! J/K

true so at this point ill be such a nonconformist that ill not even conform to my nonconformity and give them a try at some point (once i can afford a decent 7-string) :jester:

I don't know if you're at all familiar with Carvin guitars at all but as someone who not only works for them but has 7 of them, I believe you'll be very impressed by them.
Not only are they made out of actual solid wood (unlike anything else you'll find in the 3 digit range anywhere else) you can get a no options working man's axe for $729.00
and up depending on the options you choose and believe me, there's a ton like wood types, hardware etc.. Check 'em out!
