Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

Sounds good :headbang:

Would sound a LOT better with the whole band though. Mabe turn the lead up more on the final version

Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

Quite nice! Maybe a bit of polishing, but it sounds quite complete already! Good work all around.

Sounds like you also got nice sounds out of your EMGs. With your crate? What mic? Preamp?

All in all I'm anxious to hear your complete finished product, I'm expecting it to sound very good! Are you playing something along Mercyful Fate and Kreator? It sounded a bit like them to me. I hope so, as they're two of my favourite bands and ones I like to play most myself! More clips! ****ing Unholy Blasphemous Hellraising Hails!

Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH we are playign Thrash metal 80´s like nuclear assault but on our own style, a little similar to the 1 metallica... but i´m not sure on this one
i´m not sure , this clip is INTENTIONALLY RAW, just to SET A PATTERN on the lead, so i can work on it.
i´m not sure which tone and effects i´ll use for this solo. but a phaser will not fit, in fact, everything well played will sound good... i´m thinking in a compressor and delay only, maybe a WAH WAH, but i think if i use a WAH WAH, it will make things too much HAPPY, ahahahah and it is not the deal on THIS particular lead, cause the 4entire song is less melancholical. juts my lead(octobert tide/katatonia inspired) to swap peoples mind from the adrenaline of the rest of the song and the other guitarrist leads. He play´s early slayer lead styles... but also classical influences.
we will use FUR ELISE as AN Intro on this 22, JULY Gig .
Q:p
More comments guys?!

Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

I really like the arrangement and solo phrasing, but I can't say I dig the tone.

I think you really need to invest into a good tube amp. The one you've been running in all the clips sounds rather harsh on the high end, and it's fairly sterile as well. Other than that, it's all great!

Sell off an axe or two and get a 5150!

I think that you're on the right track, I rarely use any effects at all, maybe some short delay sometimes. Wah is a difficult one IMO, it has to be used lightly and not often, I think that it's overused in metal. Just think about Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, and I'm sorry to mention, Kerry King.

How do you like your EMGs these days as you've played them more and more? Compared to other makes? Are they really that much more clear? Any other insight?

f*ckin hails JP... :headbang: very good soloing.. slow and steady.. shows that solos dun have to be fast to be good.

YES, i´m not worried about the tone, this clip was just to ... see if you liked the Notes(phrasing) i layed on that rhythm riff.
i´ll post the entire rehearsal track with this solo done as soon as we record something cool, Yah, don´t worry, i´ll get the ****ing TUBE AMP, and it will be a 5150 or either a Marshall jcm 2000 dsl.

YEAH, DELAY IN FAST leads tend to get things a little muddy. Use the right ammount then.

YAH, your thrash metalband sounds similar to the black metal one, you really should place a lead on that BM song, it wil lbe nice. Q:p
the emg 81 is clear as hell under high gain PALM MUTTED RIFFS . no matter what th a**** you do, if you don´t have a DIRTY PCIKING, it will sound clear.
i loved it.. just don´t like its HIGHS.. shrill and icy picky. but i must test it under a tube amp to see it.

I´m playing the emgs more, cause the bands that i´m playign tuned in D, are not the ones that i play guitar with the emgs.
the emgs are in a guitar tuned in E, the red charvel. and the duncans on the rainbow crackle charvel

Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

F'ing Hails.. definitely with full distortion.. it would sound a little more full if you had a little stereo effect.. either way, it = rock.. cool :)

Re: EMG 81/85 Lead/rhythm work!

fur elise for intro!!?!?!? AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

PERFECT!

sounds good, needs polishing, that's all i can think of. =)
