EMG 81 or Mustaine with a non-MV amp?

I'm curious how active humbucker pickups match up with a non-master volume amp such as a Super Lead or boutique. I heard these match up best with a master volume amp, but receontly my preference has been non-mv with a Hotplate. thanks

Well that totally depends on the music you play, i kinda prefer the EMG 81 over the Mustaine JB. Both have the same feel when you play them though.

The Mustaine set are higher output JB/Jazz combo essentially and the EMG 81 is fat with great cutting-clarity and allows you to increase the amps' bass.

Though I did read the EMG 81 is best with a Master volume amplifier. ;)
