EMG 85 in bridge of MAPLE body?

hello,

isn't the 85 thick and meaty with a reduced treble response? I wonder how it would sound in a solid maple body?

tight and punchy for old-school metal?

I had one in an old, all-maple Explorer back 10 or 11 years ago. It was a monster.

EMGs in anything sound like EMGs...

Seriously, you could screw one to a 2x4, and it would sound the same.

i had one in my maple superstrat, sounded good..it had a nice "paf" tone

I've got a Poplar Strat body (ebony fingerboard) with an 85 on the bridge and an 81 on neck. I like the way it sounds through my Boogie Mark IV head. In my case the reduced treble response was what I was after.
