EMG active mid boost control

Has anyone used the EMG-SPC control with passive pickups?

I was thinking of using it to buffer the output of Passive pickups and create the ability to dial-in some extra mids. Most likely I'd use it with the APH-1 Neck, and Custom 5 Bridge.

My concern is the EMG-SPC is intended to be used specifically for Strat pickups, so I'm not sure how well it would work with humbuckers.

i used one for year with an emg 81, it does its trick very well.

I have one that is used in conjunction with the EXG, which does the opposite of the SPC. It boosts the bass and treble.

I find it more useful for single coils as you can use it along with the tone control to make your Strat sound more like a Gibson. But as the Custom 5 is rather scooped, you might find the SPC quite useful.
