EMG-ESPs???

Anyone here buy an LTD 200 series this year so far? I just noticed that the EMG-HZ4s have been replaced by these EMG-ESP models, which are on my guitar. They "look like" EMGs because of their housing... but I have no experience with HZs and was really bummed out because I wanted to compare the HZs to the duncans on my other guitars. All I can say about them is that they are not too bad... compared to any other stock pickups, these are actually pretty good. Ceramic magnets and two bar loaded coils, so they are pretty bright and cut ok, nothing special. Just wanted to know if any of you have any first hand experiences with these new pups and if you do, what would you say or compare these things to?

Re: EMG-ESPs???

They're supposedly worse than the H4s according to the 1 person I saw on the ESP board who had them both. I can't give you any first-hand experience, but the H4 set is freaking hot, sounded great in the Damien I played today imo. I will say the H4 is far above and beyond the other HZs though.

Re: EMG-ESPs???

cool, thanks for your input! Have you tried out the newer H4s with the Alnico magnets at all? I hear those are supposed to be pretty nice.

Re: EMG-ESPs???

Well most guitars come with the H4 in the bridge (like the 81) and the H4A (like the 85) set in them, I didn't really pay much attention to the H4A but I liked what I heard with the H4, definitely a brutal pickup, that's for sure.
