EMG HZ installation question.

I know this is a SD forum, but many folks here are very brilliant, so I am extending an arm out for help here. Haha.

I recently obtained a pair of EMG's HZ H4/H4A from my friend who had switched them out for active EMGs.

The pick ups came with two 500k pots, and all of the wiring between them connected. The picks up and pots were simply soldered together, instead of using EMG's new "solderless" crap. And the pick up wires were cut, trimmed, and tape off nicely.

I'm new to four conductor pick ups, especially EMGs, and I've been having some issues with getting schematics for installing the pick ups, because everything I google on the HZ series comes back with the solderless set "schematics", which if I wanted to spend $30 I could get, but I'm too cheap for that.

Good old SD has been some help though through the various videos I've watched online and so on, but at last I'm not aware of the brand differences more than the color coding.

I'm wondering if I would simply install them the same way the SD diagrams show for my setup of a 3way with 1 volume and 1 tone with the color coding of the wires adjusted.

Or could I simply install them the way my current setup is now with the two respective wires tapped off?

Excuse my poor diagram, but another picture.

Yes.

Re: EMG HZ installation question.

Color-coding might be the tricky part, unless SD has that?

I've got a set of HZs (HZ3) so I'm confused as to how someone managed to replace the connector on the baseplate of yours with regular wires. I gutted mine for their ceramic magnets, and the board had all the wiring connections.

Maybe I wrote it up a little confusing. The picks up have the normal 5 pin connector, and I have the connector, but its wires have been cut from the others connector. Here's a picture of everything I received. http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r540/Rockdo-do423/SD forum/0303192976b9eb34bff8cf57fd334dfa.jpg

As far as the color coding, SD released a picture listing them. I posted it in my initial post if you want to check that out,

Re: EMG HZ installation question.

For EMG HZ humbuckers with the Quik Connect (pins and block) format output cable, this is supplied with a block at one end of the cable and conventional, soldered conductors at the other end.

The conductor colour codes translation illustration that you posted in your original question is correct. Hence, my one word reply in post #2.
