Engl 2x12 cab, 16 ohm, or 8 ohm speakers ?

1 x 8 Ohm speaker = 8 Ohm load

Series

2 x 4 Ohm speaker = 8 Ohm load
2 x 8 Ohm speaker = 16 Ohm load
2 x 16 Ohm speaker = 32 Ohm load

Parallel

2 x 4 Ohm speaker = 2 Ohm load
2 x 8 Ohm speaker = 4 Ohm load
2 x 16 Ohm speaker = 8 Ohm load

Series / Parallel

4 x 8 Ohm speaker = 8 Ohm load
4 x 16 Ohm speaker = 16 Ohm load

Therefore,

If the cab is rated 16 ohm, there's 8 ohm speakers in it,
If the cab is rated 4 ohm, there's 8 ohm speakers in it,
If the cab is rated 8 ohm, there's 16 ohm speakers....

My Engl 212 has 2x12'' 16ohms speakers. 8ohms in mono, and 16ohms in stereo.

If it's got two speakers in it, it's wired parallel. Use a multi-meter set to a low DC resistance setting. Stick a speaker cable in the cab and put the leads to the meter on the tip and the sleeve of the other end of the cable. The DC resistance will read slightly lower than the impedance of the cab.
