I can't deicide about that two tube amps. they're in familiar price range. i want versatility: good cleans, vintage blues, classic rock sounds, jazz fusion, and heavy / thrash metal sounds. one thing about engl makes me undecision, and that is that haven't power soak switch. But Carvin V3M has it: 50/22/7 output. Carvin came with G12 speaker, not V30. so i was thinking how it works for metal tones with original speaker? does anybody have that CARVIN V3M 50 Combo and how versatile it is? the only thing i don't like in ENGL SCREAMER is that it haven't got that ****ing usable power soak switch... and i am confused about how CARVIN V3M sounds for metal, with that original speaker in. these two amps is on my budget but mesa, marshalls are not. so i am little confused about it. i haven't got any tube amplifier yet... for now i got these two little, very versatile practice amps: Roland Cube 20 X and 40 XL. but the next will be ENGL or CARVIN. i am gonna use the tube amplifier on very small stages performing vintage blues/rock, jazz so for that area would be the CARVIN great. and i am gonna use it in the whole new band project, for sessions and more open stages. maybe the Carvin is what i need, but i am not sure if it can do metal well.. :scratchch
