Enlighten me, oh pedal gurus

I just bought a peavey classic VT 212. I still havent spent a lot of time playing on it, but im thinking that I need some pedals. I could either get two tube screamers and a super distortion (which i can get 40$ each) or i could get a jekyll & hyde ultimate overdrive and a snarling dogs black dog... or I could keep my money and buy behringer... help! the stuff im looking for is tobe able to go from just mildly overdriven at the intro, then superoverdriven and distorted at the chorus to just mildly overdriven/ distorted at the end

An indyguitarist Pinnacle (see link) might be good, although i don't think brian has any at the moment

At MOST, to do that you will need these two things:

SD-1-large.jpg

aaaand....
KNS-2-1.jpg

Set your amp for a crunch, then back off on the guitar volume for more cleans. Hit the pedal for a give it a goose in the gain and volume to make the amp wail a little more. You really shouldn't need more than that to do what you're describing.

The Jekyll & Hyde could be cool, but I agree w/ what B2D had to say. The only thing I'd do differently is to use a Hermida Mosferatu instead of the Boss pedal :D.

Well the effect that was meant to have was just to send a message to use any overdrive pedal you want. I'd use a Fulltone OCD, personally. The SD-1 was just the first one I thought of.

Get a multieffects board, because with as many pedals as you're talking about owning, this could save you hassle, and possibly money. I own a Boss ME-50 and I love it.

Re: Enlighten me, oh pedal gurus

act fast...there is a Boss DS-1 that has been modded by our own John Spina in the trading post as we speak for $65, no, it's not mine but I do have one, it is a killer pedal with much better tone that a stock DS-1 get that since it's there then look for a Boss SD-1 or Tubescreamer, send it to John then you will have all the dirt you need, and killer tone to boot!

Re: Enlighten me, oh pedal gurus

You can cover pretty much any drive/distortion situation with the Jekyll & Hyde. From mild drive or clean boost to utter despair!!

Re: Enlighten me, oh pedal gurus

I have a Peavey Classic VT. No matter what pedal you get, just remember the with the saturation control to high the sound will turn to mush.
