i use a guyatone WR3 wah rocker, which is awesome, and isn't expensive at all.

What style do you want to play with those filters...? I have a Maxon AF-9 for funky music, and it's a great peda. :) I think it fits your wallet quite good, perhaps check out the used section on thegearpage.com or something...?

Go to Tonefactor.com and order an Analog Filter.

Do you have one of those? Any info would be appreciated. :)

I have had a few and in retrospect I should have never sold the regular Q-Tron I had. They can be had pretty cheap used and work fine (I didn't notice any noise). YMMV, of course.

Re: Envelope Filter under $150.00 ?

I have both a 70's Mutron III and an old Boss T-Wah. The Mutron is the mother of all envelope filters, famous for Stevie Wonder's clavinet sounds and Bootsy Collins bass, but it also sounds great with guitar. The Q-Tron was EH's attempt at a Mutron but always sounded kind of metallic and not so funky. But the Mutron reissue is not as sweet as the original, and may be out of the price range. The Boss T-Wah does a pretty good job of it consider it is just a small pedal, particularly if it is an effect that you will only use sparingly.

The trick with all touch sensitive envelope filters is to really have your picking dynamics worked out so you can set a threshold and hover around either side of it to trigger the effect. That's where the funk is.

Cheers...............wahwah

I have a DOD Envelope Filter... not quite sure why I bought it now... it was very good last I remember, very full and very tweakable

I have an EMMA DiscumBOBulator I've used only once. ONCE! You can imagine the shape it's in (read: like new). I may be willing to unload it for the right price. I've got the box, paperwork, etc.

^^ that may be a very good deal. I was actually on the fence of buying the Emma, before I went with the AF-9.

Re: Envelope Filter under $150.00 ?

I had the EH Q-Tron, and loved that pedal. I liked it even more than the Mutron III reissue.....at least for the sounds I wanted. For a couple weeks I borrowed the best envelope filter ever made, a Lovetone Meatball, and man...that thing was FUN. I had to give it back, so I bought a Mutron, but didn't totally love it, so I exchanged it for a regular large Q Tron. It's got some cool features.

Re: Envelope Filter under $150.00 ?

For tweakability, the Boss AW-3 has got to be tops. It has envelope-sensitive auto-wah, timed auto wah, and it has a jack for an expression pedal, so it can be used as a regular wah pedal. It also has vowel sounds you can morph between. I have the older AW-2, which I mainly like for the timed auto wah.

Re: Envelope Filter under $150.00 ?

I hate to use the DOD word but the plain old DOD FX25B is not a bad Env Fil...they can be had used for 25-30 bucks...is it a My-Tron III, not no but hell no, but it will get the job done.
