Re: EP Release

Almost as if you're making a tribute to me since my stage/'Tube channel name is "RolanTHUNDER" hehe.

Well done on the EP man, keep it up!

Re: EP Release

I like that! Early Maiden-y sounding.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and the recording sounds great.

Were those drums recorded live? I'm seriously impressed with both the engineering and production.

Kamanda~SD, do you have a second guitar player in the band? I was looking at the credits and it sounds like you played all of the guitars and I was wondering how all the harmonies work live.

Re: EP Release

Great stuff! Hints of Maiden with American thrash.

What amp? :naughty:

Thanks so much! Yes the drums are recorded live, with no sample replacement (there is a sample tucked underneath the snare in one song). We recorded everything ourselves as well. Great drummer and a great kit were certainly the foundation for that though.

No we do not have a second guitar player. Sure you loose a bit of oomph, but we also gain clarity live and of course...no bull**** with 1 less member haha. There are not many harmonies (mostly on leads) so it's a non-issue. simply don't do them. However, I usually do the higher part live where the harmony would come in.

haha Of course you want to know that! The majority of the rhythm tones is my JMP-1 > Peavey classic 50/50 with 6L6s > 2x12 Cab w/ V30s > SM57 and 421 blend. LotR also has some quadraverb effects on there.
All of the leads (all but the intro in Get judged, which was jmp-1) is actually BIAS FX. some rhythms have a smidge of BIAS FX blended in as well. You'll be happy to know there's lots of subtle H910 thrown on different sources as well.

As for guitars, IIRC the majority of rhythms were my Charvel Model 3 w/ DDJ, most of the leads were either my RG550 or Charvel 375 Deluxe w/ JB. There's also a 70s Ibanez LP copy on a bit of one tune as well.

We are going in to record our next EP very soon, and I learned so much with this one I have no doubts the next will be (sonically at least) better. Planning on the amp setup to be my JCM800s / JMP-1 / MP-1 with iRs as the base of the tone.

Cool stuff, definitely some Maiden/NWOBM influence there (who'd thunk that would be considered retro?!?!), some Billy Duffy/Cult-ish stuff going on in one of the tunes too. Probably hearing that stuff because I'm one of the old guys here that grew up playing that stuff when it was new.

Very cool stuff, and the band sounds tight, which is no small task, shows how much work you guys have put in!

Re: EP Release

thanks devastone! Much appreciated. Certainly proud to say there was no quantizing or anything going on. Once again, it starts with a great drummer!
