Epi Casino - worth it?

Im considering buying one of these, and was wondering what some owners views on them are. I'm guessing that the electronics would need replacing, as is the way with epiphone.
How do they play? Are the pickups really noisy? Im looking to play blues/indie, so i dont need to worry about fedback problems etc with ultra high metal gain.

thanks!

I think they're cool. I'm fortunate to have one of the American made Casinos (thanks to my uncle) and it sounds, plays and feels very nice. The newer Korean models I've played feel good and sound good acoustically. The bridge is nice, as is the tailpiece, but the nut and tuners do need to be replaced along with the electronics. As with any import guitar, play as many as you can get your hands on and choose the one that feels the best and sounds the best unplugged, as electronics can be changed later on.

Don't overlook all the semi and hollowbodies by Washburn. The quality is almost hard to believe for the price they ask. A used Washburn for around $400 plays and sounds just about as good as Gibson, and they also have the Buzz Feiten tuning system, so the chords sound perfect anyplace on the neck. They're a notch or two above Epiphone, IMO......almost as good as a Gibson....real close.

Cool post, G.J.! I've been thinking about a 335-style guitar for a long time and kinda blew my wad on equipment this year already, so a good quality semi-hollow at a decent price may be more of a reality for me.
Are there some years better than others to look for?
Just how hard is it to swap pups in a semi?

Keep in mind a Casino is a fully (or ostly) hollow instrument. I don't think there is a center block. It's closer to an ES330 than a 335.

Yes, that's correct...I was mainly commenting on Gearjoneser's review of Washburn guitars vs. the Casino (hollow) or possibly a 335 (semi-hollow).
