Epi Les Paul material?

Hello, forumites!
I was discussing and comparing my Epi Les Paul with a friend's newly purchased 2012 Gibson Les Paul standard.
I then realized I have no idea what material the body and neck are made of on my Epi.
I'm somewhat certain it's not mahogany.
It's a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Standard made in the Bohemia factory in the Czech republic. Anyone got info on those that google doesn't?

Seems like it is mahogany in mine. Was sure I'd heard somewhere a long time ago that it wasn't. Oh well, I'm not complaining, that's good news.

Most Les Pauls are supposed to be Mahogany body/neck. som have maple neck.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of that, but I just had an old memory somewhere deep in my brain that told me that the czech made Epi LP's were some other wood.

The name mahogany covers a multitude of sins. The premium lumber is difficult to obtain and, hence, too valuable to be used in any non-US Epiphone models.

Or possibly too-expensive to be used in lower-end Gibsons too...

You're not getting the same quality of materials in a Gibson that costs 1/3 or 1/4 as much. Cheaper inlays and finishes don't account for that big a difference.

These guys don't know. Those are absolutely real mahogany with serious maple caps without veneers. Aside from the electronics, crappy nut, and poly finish, they're every bit a USA. Hell, IIRC, they even came with all Schaller hardware. That same factory (Bohemia Musico Delica) did the 'European Custom Select' Deans and they're top notch-every bit of golden age MIJ quality.

Don't sell that thing and if you do, let me know. They're not worth much, in money, compared to the value...and I will absolutely cutthroat lowball you to take one of these home!

Yeah, it's a great guitar. It did hold up for almost 10 years before I got new pups (the neck pup started to stutter a bit) and pots. Tho now something else is broken and I only get an angry hiss when plugging it in. Since it was my first electronics mod, I only got some cheapish pots. Mechanically, the guitar is stock tho. Original tuners, bridge and nut. Never had any trouble with those bits and never even had to adjust the truss rod.
I bought it new btw. ;P

Have you heard of nyatoh? It's a "commercial" mahogany. Looks and behaves like mahogany they say, but cheaper. It might be the material of your guitar.

The body, neck and fretboard are made of wood. The inlays and nut are made of a plastic like material

According to the Epiphone wiki, the czech made Epi LP's are made out of mahogany, with maple tops like "real" LP's. Mystery solved, all!

An EPi COULD be made of nearly anything. I do not trust them at all.

I have never played a Czech Epi but I played a Czech Dean Cadillac (made in the same factory it seems) that was just a great guitar all around.

Wrong. The Nitro gloss finish on a premium Gibson is one of the most expensive features on the guitar.I can't get that people can't get that. Thats the last time i'll ever say that, Im getting tired of repeating it .
That said, I Love my Zakk Wylde Epi to bits.
