got it monday, a factory 2nd the seller put blackouts in it, I spent hours setting it up, the guy had actually put the blackouts in the pickup rings facing backwards, tapering down twords the bridge instead of twords the neck, called it a job done by a tech in a custom shop LOL the neck was dead flat and the bridge was cranked up so far strings still buzzing..I was horrified and almost returned it, well I set up all my guitars so I gave the neck some relief(maybe even more than needed) and changed to my gauge of strings(10-52) that helped, got a decent action,I play mostly rhythm and Im fairly heavy handed so far Im still meshing with the blackouts, this thing sounds as dark and smokey as it looks despite having a ebony fretboard maple neck and maple cap body, the original EMGs most likely were a exellent match, I currently am using the Blackstar tube injection in my spider in bypass mode sounds huge,no digital fizz there. Ever since I saw these prophecy sg's I have wanted one, must be the 15 yr old metalhead that lives inside this 44 yr old body bah who cares..anyway this is a huge fat sounding guitar, I love the neck and frets unlike other Epis I have played, though I dont know what to do with the extra 2 frets...now Im considering another set of BO's for one of my Ibby SZs I absolute love the feel of thos guitars(I have 3) but for now they are taking a backseat.I cant wait to play this SG thru a better amp Im on a waiting list for the new Blackstar HT5 head/cab I was so impressed with the pedal I couldnt resist.

Re: Epi Prophecy Custom EX w/Blackouts

oh by the way the factory2nd issue is a dime size drop of epoxy or glue over the inlay on the first fret,it is barely noticable and dont affect playability..but any ideas the best way to get rid of it? #### steel wool? acetone? both? dont bother?

Looks great, I like the Futura they did in that line but it is a bit too metal looking for use with my band.

Don't use any chemicals on that board, you don't want anything to lift unnecessarily. I would try taking a razor blade perpendicular to the board and scrape it off, strings must be off obviously.

Good luck with it.

I have to say: you rock.

A 24 fret SG, with Blackouts, and you're getting a Blackstar amp?

Again: You Rock.
