Epi Valve Jr and Tube wear ?

Hi all,

i recognized, that my valve jr lost lots of headroom and brilliance
the last two practice sessions.
Is it possible, that those little el84 wear out so fast?

so far i was playing 6-7x 4-5hrs the heck out of it most of the time
switching between clean(well it was crunch) and bad warp factor
gain treatment.

Some guy said the tubes run too hot in those which could wear out the tubes pretty fast...
Edit: It could also just be crappy stocl tubes here, get another set and look how wel they work out.

If you using the tubes that came with it do yourself a favor and order some JJ tubes for it. This along makes these a different amp

i use an jj ecc803s in there, which i had at home. but the el84 is still the
sovek. i anyway wanted to replace this one, but have to wait until i order
some more parts. otherwise i pay eg 7 eur for the tube and 12,5 EUR for
the shipment :blackeye:

Where are you from? If you are from Vienna you could go to Klangfarbe and get some JJs.

good to know, that they have jj's.
i normally go to musik-produktiv, where they give you a sinlge sovtek for
the price of three jj's - well it's 10 minutes away from me.
i could visit klangfarbe during vacation - normally if i stop working at 5 and go
there by car through the heavy traffic when everyone want's home ..
i'll arrive at klangfarbe when it closes i work at brunn am geb.
