EPI ZW les paul?

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

My opinions...

1. Overpriced by $200
2. Needs a pickup swap BAD. I don't like 81's but i love 85's.

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

I' ve got this beauty.. :32: :32:

Bought it in Holland for 700 euro, that means that you must get it for 700 dollar too.
Or less.

The look is killer, the feel is great too.
The HZ? I'm plannig to replace them.
They aren't that bad (especially with much distortion), but nothing beats a Seymour Duncan :newangel:

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

I've tried it out before when shopping for guitars...

Pro:

Its basically a Epi Les Paul Custon 'cept for the neck and pickups.
I like the "bare" neck ,compared to the other Les Pauls. Personally I think it slides better.

It sure looks wicked! :headbang:

Con:
As for the humbuckers, they're not really to my taste.IMHO, you should get some EMG81 or duncans depending on what your taste.

But all in all I like it better than the other Les Pauls that i tried from epiphone.
I've played the standard and the gothic LPs from Epi.

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

As for the looks vs. the sound...

"You can put all the lipstick you want on that pig, but in the end its still a pig."

Cool, we've got a really small amount of dutch bros here on the board and you happen to live in the same city! You didn't buy the Epi at Rockpalace did you? :smack:

I don't like the Epi, Zakk claims it rules but I don't feel comfortable with that axe.

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

i heard it was down to $600 now. dont know where though

We need more dutch bro's! :headbang:
Lol, why the rockpalace comment? Something I should know? :22:

Sorry can't comment on the ZW LP, but if it's anything like the Normal custom it shure is a nice guitar! (after a pickup swap... ;))

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

The Rockpalace sucks, they're not even nice to you if you want to buy their stuff, let alone try it out. I used to bring my guitars over for mods and pick up swaps, the guy used to be really nice but after awhile he started cursing and ignored me when I came there. I really didn't do anything and I offered him money for everything he did, but heck if you want to threat me like that you're not getting any of my money anymore  . This isn't the only problem I've had with them. There's only one decent guitar guy there and his name is Roy, he's the younger fellow. The rest of the guitaremployees just make lowsy comments and some of them don't even know what they're talking about sometimes. When I started playing I went there with my dad and another employee first looked at me as if I were asking him about rocketscience, and then my dad tried to explain to him I was looking for a smoother Santana-ish overdrive sound. The guy just answered us by saying: "Well if you only knew how much cash Santana spends on his gear, you'd be able to buy the whole store with that kind of money". I don't know maybe he didn't even listen to us :yell:

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

The guitar is way to expensive for what it is imo...
You could probably get a REAL les paul studio with REAL emg´s for about the same price.
Or just get a regular epi with some nice pickups to save money.

But if you like the guitar and feel its worth the money, go for it.

The Hague is the dutch no 1 rock city!
A pity we wont have the same taste for guitars, but no problem.

I haven't had that problems with Rockpalace.
I think they have got much choise and that is a good thing. If you need new pups or a good conversation about pick-ups (sound) then go across the street to Peer Dellen. He is a former guitar builder and now he does 'little' modifications on guitars.

He's a really nice guy and know what he's talking about!
I'm planning to go to him for a pick up swap.

:32: GET ME SOME DUNCANS! :32:

Greetz from The Hague!

I've had similar experiences there. One of the guys is a complete jerk, he makes rude comments all the time. Might be his sense of humor or something but I am certainly wasn't amused.
The others seem friendly and helpfull, must be one rotten apple in there.
They do have a lot of gear to choose from. Not as much as Feedback has though. I go to Peer Dellen for 'special' guitar stuff no one else can get.

I don't buy Duncans there though, because he is more expensive than other stores in my area.

I should try the ZW guitar next time I'm in a store, I wonder how the unfinished neck would feel.

Re: EPI ZW les paul?

I'd rather get one of these... real EMG's too!

That's the guitar I want. Color and all, if anyone sees one for a good deal new or used please tell me. I don't really want to pay $800 though.
