Epiphone Dot

Just bought an Epiphone Dot.

I was thinking about picking up a pair of these.

And then throwing in Antiquity Firebirds:
Bridge
Neck

Anyone ever done anything like this before? Can't find anything on the YouTubes. I've always been a Tele guy but my last Tele had a SD Vintage Mini Hum in the neck and I fell in love. I realize the Tele and the Dot are not the same animal.

Re: Epiphone Dot

If you like mini hums, go for it. I have a Seth Lover set in my Dot, and it sounds glorious.

Thanks. Having been mostly a single coil guy, I don't know too much about the Seth Lover. Would you say it's darker than the firebird mini hums?

Re: Epiphone Dot

Full sized humbuckers sound fuller or fatter than the 70's style mini-humbuckers which share the same construction.

So adding in the bar mag of the firebird adds a fender-like presence that even the mini's can't get.

Thank you Alex! That definitely got me started in the right direction.

Re: Epiphone Dot

I have no experience with mini humbuckers or the firebird but I just put a Seth neck in my archtop equator and it indeed sounds glorious as Trevorus stated. It really brings out the best qualities of the hollowbody.

Re: Epiphone Dot

I am a big fan of Seths in a semi-hollow, too. Yes, it is darker than a mini-hum, but not especially so. The Seths have this interesting midrange thing going on that makes semi's sound the way I like them to.

@Jerzey2222 @Mincer
Thanks again for the feedback. What would you say is the position you like most for the Seth? I'm a pretty big fan of the mini hum but I've only ever used it in the neck. Just curious if it might sound good FB - neck and Seth bridge.

Re: Epiphone Dot

I am on the neck pickup maybe 70% of the time, so neck for me. But I love the Seth bridge, too. I'd hate to have to pick. It really might depend on the music you are playing.
