Epiphone Dots... Any Good?

Re: Epiphone Dots... Any Good?

Well worth the use market prices. I prefer Sheratons, though, because I like the bling.

Re: Epiphone Dots... Any Good?

Well made, and there's great deals to be found on used ones. Many are in nice condition, no point in buying one with issues. The new ones come with much better PU's. Most Dots have maple necks, a few have mahogany. With Sheratons you're paying more for the gold hardware and big inlays, eveything else is the same. There's also Dot Deluxes that have gold hardware and flame maple tops, and are priced about the same as regular Dots (less then Sheratons). Put in a set of good PAF's in any of these and you have a nice-sounding guitar for a small outlay.

And those two posts about cover it. As always - quality varies. Play a bunch. You wiull find some outstanding ones. Even the Epi Dot Studios have a few gems.

Used Dot prices make them major guitar bargains.

I got a Rivera-90. Not exactly the same, but I love it. Required a p'up upgrade, but sounds like it should.

Re: Epiphone Dots... Any Good?

My family bought an Epi Dot for my dad's birthday in 2011 (his first own electric - he hasn't played since the 70s but wanted to get on it again) and it's quite excellent for the price. Bought it new btw.
