Epiphone Firebird Pickup Recommendation

So I have recently aquired a Pelham Blue Epiphone Firebird. It has standard Humbuckers. Not impressed with them. Heres what Im after. I have played a couple Gibson Les Paul standard guitars. I really love the warm yet powerful growl they have. I play lot of rock and classic rock and I want that bite. I have a Mesa Dual rectifier so I have all the gain and distortion I would ever need on tap so output isnt a huge deal. I hope what Im saying is making sense but I have a good feeling you guys know exactly what Im talking about. I would just buy some Gibson pickups but Im always impressed with Seymour Duncan consistent quality and not so much with Gibson. Seems one is great and the next isnt. Thanks for the help.

Re: Epiphone Firebird Pickup Recommendation

I like the Pearly Gates for bridge clean and crunch and custom for mainly crunch in LP styles. Also like bustbucker 3 for good clean crunch bridge on a bright guitar.

Neck is hard for me to recommend without hearing... Is it bright or dark?

And personally, I think its hard to beat firebird pups on a firebird and would love to know if anyone is winding them for standard hum routs, but thats really not an LP sound.

The pearly gates is one that intrigues me for sure. Its not too chimey?

I dont think of the pg as extremely chimey... But it does clean up well if you back off the vol or reduce amp gain.

Not so much looking for the traditional Firebird sound. More of that pissed off Les Paul growl sound if that make sense. Describing pickups seems a lot like describing wine and bourbon lol.
Great analogy.. It took me a lot of pup installs before I could compare and contrast because pups respond differently in different guitars.

But that doesn't mean that my "chimey" is the same as others...

Another direction, I've had a lot happy customers with the 59 set in Les Pauls...
