Epiphone/Kustom - Small tube amps for home use

The local store has the Epiphone Valve jr and the Kustom Tube 12A in stock and i have tried them out both. I don't have much experience with tube amps so i don't know if they are good or not. The Epi doesn't have any controls just a volume knob, would a equalizer fix that? Same with the Kustom, has no mid knob, would a equalizer fix that?

Has anyone tried these amps? What did you think about them?

I just know that I want a Valve Junior because it seems to be a really fun amp and very easy to mod... and it's dirt cheap.
From the clips I've heard even the stock tone is good, although I'd probably want a bit more gain at lower volume levels which brings us back to the modding thing because this is a matter of pulling one or two resistors (depending on how much more gain) in this amp. Niiiiice. I plan on picking up one next month basically for home use (although I use my 50W head at home aswell ).

Btw do a search on the Epi... many threads around lately.
