Epiphone Les Paul Tribute plus.. Anyone played one? thoughts?

Ok, first... Lets nip this in the bud right off.. yes, Its an Epiphone...

It has alot of cool features though.. Deep neck tenon, Gibson classic 57 pups (prolly would yank em), nice flame top, coil taps, bound neck. 60's neck which I like and it comes stock with a switchcraft toggle.. Ive been wanting another lp for a hot pup set like duncan distortions. That way Ill have mild (WLH), med (Rebel Yells) and hot. But want a nice player without sinking much money. I have a line on a mint used one thats a really good price.. Face it, as much as we like to bash Epis round here, they are making a pretty good product these days and the special models seem to be a cut above too. And this one has other special features listed above, plus straplocks and a hard case..

Thoughts on the guitar? thanks

If you rip the Classic 57s out, feel free to send them to me. Very underrated pups, those.

Nice specs on the Tribute Plus. Don't really love any of the color options. And there's a part of me that balks at $750 for a Chinese guitar. It's not a rational part, but it's there.

yes i almost bought a used one at guitarcenter few weeks ago. it was $500. it was in excellent condition and sounded very classic with the type of pickups that you don't change out.

Nice guitars. The neck could be a little thicker (the neck on mine is thinner than on STD's and Customs from the same production era), definitely not a 1950's neck. I pulled the '57's from my Tribute and sold them; very overrated PU's. Gibson's version of 'mudbuckers.' I wish Epi would have used BB's in them. That, and a little more heft in the neck and it would be an ideal guitar for me.

Me too, but I wont be paying but about half that. I like flame on blue and black.. I really wanted to get blue as I miss my Blue Gibson lp. (the color, the guitar was a turd)

Of course Ill give the pickups a fair shake, but I rarely like gibson pups and have a definate Idea what I want if I get it..

I cant gel with 50s clubby necks..

'Zat the one in the Trading Post?

No, I think same guitar, but this one would be black and much less $$

Bump for more info!!! So far, and everything Ive read online, sounds like a pretty nice axe.

Seems a bit pricey for an Epi but otherwise very nice. I've been using an Epi Traditional Pro that I can't say enough good things about. I'm using it completely stock too, it is a fantastic guitar. I like the colors better in the Traditional line but that is just a matter of preference.

Just watch out for uneven frets that is the weak spot with Epi's from my experience but they've been far better more recently .

Hey Wattage!! How you doin? Havent seen you around in a while.. At least we havent crossed threads in awhile! Yeah, I had to go to Jax today to get my pain pump refilled and slipped away to guitar center to see if they had one of these there.. They didnt, but they did have a bunch of epi lps. Including the trad pro. So I played that one and a couple other "special" models.. It seems like they put extra care into the special models. Anyhow, I figure the trad pro would be pretty much on par with this one as it is feature wise, cept the tribute plus has the deep set neck tenon. (which should be a plus) And, since I have a Gibson Trad Pro, I figure I can get a comparo tween those too. The guitar was quite a nice player. fat accou tone, and sustain for days. All the things you expect from a LP. I may jump on this. Its a brand new 2013 model. comes with hard case, strap, tuner, extra set of strings for a couple hundred less than I normally see em online and what GC was charging. $420 shipped to my door sound good?

I come in once a month to get my pain pump refilled. We'll have to arrange a meet up.

Yeah haven't been around much lately.

$420 sounds pretty good to me. I paid $349 for my Trad Pro if I remember correctly it was on sale but no extras with it.
