Re: Epiphone Sorrento

I've got to get to bed, but I've thought it over and that guitar is too cool to pass up. I've got zero problem covering a bit of it, cause it's too cool and that price is too good.

So I'll leave the offer up to you - if you're too weirded out I understand and it's cool. Just know that the offer's on the table! Anyways, I gotta get some friggin sleep, work in 6 hours! :) PM me if you want dude

Actually i'll have some gig money coming in soon. It will hopefully come through in time.

I'll ask the seller some questions. i've got an issue buying off a seller with only 1 feedback

Re: Epiphone Sorrento

Decided not to buy it...Going to stick to my rule of 'dont pay it before you play it'. Sick of buying dud guitars.

...so one of you cats should buy it!

Re: Epiphone Sorrento

I had a Sorrento in black sparkle, & sold it several years ago. It was almost identical to my black Casino (ES330 copy, fully hollow with P-90's). So it didn't do anything the Casino didn't, & I liked the Casino's double cutaway & neck access better.

Sorrentos were made in small quantities, long since discontinued, and they always hold their value well. There's a small but devoted following that jumps on them whenever they surface. If you see one, get it, because you may not see another for a long time. I think Epiphone should put them in back into production. A thinline hollowbody with P-90's will always have a following. Make some suggestions to Epi's customer service.

The Sorrento's main drawback, like most imports, is the cheap Asian PU's. I put SD P-90's on my Casino & that made a world of difference.

Hey dude, first I doubt this is a dud - but even if it is you can resell it and probably make money (especially if you ship to America). These are friggin rare guitars, and it's amazing looking!

I really wanna buy this. Rats. Well, good luck with whatever you decide dude!

I buy just about all my guitars before playing them. You can't tell squat "testing" a guitar in a music store, as the things are rarely set up right, the strings are rusty, the PU's too low, intonation is off, truss rods need adjusting, etc. Sure, most will sound and play like crap in that condition. How can anyone tell what they REALLY sound like? If you find one that sounds and plays great to you, you just happened to find one with clean strings that was set up for your playing style. That's a fluke & doesn't mean the other guitars are no good.

I buy mid-priced imports & they almost always need better PU's, so again, you can't tell much by playing one in a store with cheap muddy-sounding Asian PU's. With a little 101 basic luthier tweaking, & American-made PU's, (and maybe replacing magnets, pots, or caps) most imports will sound and play 100% better once you get them home. Most of mine were "duds" to some degree when I bought them, but now I usually have the best-sounding guitars at a gig or jam. If you want one thats "perfect for you" when you buy it, you're paying accordingly.
