Eric Johnson Pickups and Fender Fat 50's

I'm curious as to what the sound difference is between the Eric Johnson pickups and the Fat 50's. I have the Eric Johnson Strat and the pickups in there sound rather thick and creamy, almost like a Dimarzio vertical humbucker.

I like them but at the same time I think I might be happier if I could have the thickness and fullness while still retaining a single-coil glassy, chimey tone.

The Fat 50's get great reviews and I feel that would be a good choice. If anyone has first hand experience with both pickup sets please post.

Re: Eric Johnson Pickups and Fender Fat 50's

i have fat 50's in my MIM strat. i love them. they have all the strat qualities(glassy, quacky, scooped), but they also are full sounding with chimey treble. mine sound the absolute best almost flush with the pickuguard. i think they are slightly more output than the usual strat pickup .i love them. i think they probably replicate an early 60's sound. i have gotten used to them, and think i like them better than custom shop '69s. no experience with the EJ guitar or pickups. from your description, i can't imagine you wouldn't like them.
