Any thoughts? I played one the other day and I'm just about sold on it. Loved the coil tap, and the boost was kind of a null point. Cool to have I guess, it definitely did its job as described. Also, I've always drooled over semi's without f-holes (B.B. King, anybody?).

The only thing I wasn't 100% on was the smaller body. I prefer the larger 335 style, but after playing one for a while I might be able to overlook that. Hopefully I'll have my hands on one in a month or so. Still torn on the finish. I'm thinking Vintage Sunburst though. Cherry Gibsons are a dime a dozen.

Re: ES-339 Trad Pro

I looked earlier, and figured I wouldn't say anything instead of saying something not nice, lol.

To me, when you spend that amount of cash, there is no reason why you wouldn't shell out a little bit more for the regular 339. I know, I have one and I'm biased, but I just don't get it....

Re: ES-339 Trad Pro

Hot looking guitar. They look waaay better without f holes. Some mini-hummers via an adapter would reduce the cosmetic problem of the pickups looking abnormally large.

Re: ES-339 Trad Pro

I have a 359, which is a 339 with Gold hardware, ebony fingerboard and a custom Headstock. Basically a smaller version of a 355 where the 330 is a smaller version of the 335. I really love the way it plays and surprisingly the 57 classics sound great in this guitar....I think they get a bad wrap. I really like the guitar a lot but I STILL prefer the 335. The size does something to the guitar tonally. The 335 is a bigger tone more rounded and IMHO more versatile. I think the 339, 359 sounds more like a Les Paul and has some characteristics of a semi hollow.

Re: ES-339 Trad Pro

Isn't the 359 a carved maple top instead of the traditional laminate Gibson uses on the 339?

I have a 339 and apart from the size, it's constructed exactly like a 335. I have a Les Paul too and I find the two sound quite different from one another.

I'm a Gibson semi-hollow junkie. For me, I'm not a fan of any of the 339 variations. I love and want the bigger bodies, and they've gotta have the f-holes. Both of those are just deal breakers for me.

Re: ES-339 Trad Pro

I'm still torn between the regular 339 and the Trad Pro. My local GC had a nice example of the regular model in stock. I think I'll have them order the pro in the finish I want, then A/B the two.

Anyway I'm glad to see some responses! I'm so damn indecisive I like to get some outside opinions on these things. And I'm glad to see Gibson putting out some new products without using dyed plywood and funny electronics.

Took a picture while visiting the local GC.

HOWEVER. Moments after taking the picture I found a 2003 McCarty Soap Bar and put my money down :D so I'm out of the guitar hunting game for a while myself. NGD thread to follow!
