Esquire build

I built this guitar 3 or 4 years ago. It was originally yellow and had black hardware. It never played correctly and so it just sat.

I stripped the paint and finished it in tung oil (the kind with the old guy on the package).
and then let it sit again for 1 1/2 or 2 years years.
then last week I finally did some work on it to get it to finally play right. And now this Bad Boy sings.

It has a 1 piece mahagany body
lefty neck
black hardware
Dimarzio Tone Zone T
250K volume and a coil splitter.

Re: Esquire build

sweet. i love the reverse headstock. that there is a mans guitar, minus the pink pup of course :)

Re: Esquire build

very cool clean and simple...i like it!! nice work! the red pickup is cool IMO to throw something random in there to stick out from the rest without being overly silly.

Re: Esquire build

Nice modern twist on the Esquire, I like it. How's the single-sized Tone Zone? I've heard great things about it, many prefer it over the full-sized unit.

yeah I'd say its better than the regular full sized version. Its lower output 300MV vs. 375mv but the small tone zone does sound better IMO.
It still has a fat bottom end but the high end and mids are more rounded out and sound sweeter to my ears then the standard TZ. I actually like the pickup a lot. I'm using it with a 250k pot so when I split the pickup it sound not bad in single coil mode.

Re: Esquire build

really cool and unique looking. I like really haggard and beat up guitars or very sleek and clean.
