€piphone P'ups

My new €pi SG came with "Ceramic 8" Humbuckers.
Does this mean that they have an "8" "Ceramic Magnet" ?
Thanks. :fing2:

Ceramic 8 just refers to the grade of magnet. Ceramic 8 is just a standard ceramic as far as I know.

It means you have 8 Days until your ears grow tired of them.

Get some Duncans. Tons of dudes here love their Epi SG's after adding 59's, A2P's, Customs, whatever.....

I stuck a C8 in a DD HB-7 bridge pickup about 4 years ago. Haven't gotten tired of it yet.

I don't know what an HB-7 is, unless you are referring to an SH-6 bridge, 7 string. But the DD already comes with the ceramic magnet.

I meant the Duncan Designed HB-7 bridge pickup, which is a 7 string pickup based on the JB. By putting the regular ceramic in it, I think that I turned it into a Duncan Designed 7 string Dokkenbucker.

Oh, I get it. Some have claimed that the JB is just a Duncan Distortion with an A5 instead of a ceramic. I don't know if that is true...just saying.

I'm not going to say that my Duncan Designed HB-7 bridge is an exact replica of a 7 string Dokkenbucker.
It sounds fantastic, has a huge tight low end present mids and that grind.

I believe the official word is that they are not the same wind, but then again I often time believe the official word is that they are the same wind.

I would be more inclined to believe the winds between the two are more similar than they possibly are different. The wire gauge, geometry of the coil, and wire tension are such between the two, that I have a hard time believing the couple of ohm difference in the wind really equates to large difference.
