Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

ARGH!!! JB, CC, JB, CC, what the hell do I want? I thought I was set on JB until about a half hour ago, when I checked out on here and people are raving like crazy over the CC. But, then I hear that it isn't as clean, and doesn't rock quite as much. And then I hear that it still rocks substantially, and is smooth like butter. But then, someone says it's a bit thin. And then, it cuts through amazingly. Next, someone says it is monodimensional, and then someone else says it covers everything amazingly.

I HATE MY LIFE

Seymour Duncan, you've ruined me!!!

 They're coming to take me away...

What if I put both pickups into the bridge position of my guitar at once?

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

buy em both and decide for yourself. they are both good pups, but sound quite different. what do you like about each one?

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

I like that the CC is supposed to be amazing with the APH-1, which is a definite in the neck slot. However, I like that I can get a little bit of extra bite out of the JB. My influences are so far apart, that it is difficult to pinpoint anything. The biggest influences on me are the Beatles, Zeppelin, Slash, the Bros. Allman, Jason Becker, and Cobain. Such a wide range, what am I supposed to do?

I've only got one axe to put these pickups in, and since I don't have the affinity to switch pickups (I'm just lame, really), I'd have to pay for the install too. Can't afford that, just gotta make up my mind.

I think I like the JB better, just in general, but I hear so much good about the APH-CC combo...

JB.

Then, if you don't like it, you can blame it all on me.

But that won't be a problem, 'cause it's a kick ass pup (and it's what Cobain used in the latter part of his life, I can't really speak for the others, as I don't know what they used).

You'll waste alot of time spinning your wheels unless you just jump in and try a few things. Don't get lost in your head...

Just buy something and give it a try. Exchange it for something else if it doesn't work out.

Everybody hears and plays differantly and gets a differant sound out of the same gear than you would anyway...

Boy is that right...

I will say this though, a CC/APH-1 combo I had in a semi-hollowbody was fantastic.

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

iv been in the EXACT same problem as u...GO WITH THE JB'S!!! iv made my decision to get the JB's and u should to...their alot broader for different style playing. NOW if any1 would answer my friggin question on what single coils to get i can go order some pickups, but noooooo every1 else dosnt have the time help me. :fing25:

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

get the custom and the two other magnets that way you get to try three duncans for the price of one pup :) :laugh2:

I agree with RG2570. BTW RG, your avatar is incredibly distracting! :32:

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

Haha, as I previously stated, I'm terribly lame. I won't touch my guitar beyond restringing it, no dealing with any electronics or componentry for me. I just don't work well with stuff. This is going into my SG, by the way.

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

For what its worth, here's a little story. I had a JB in a guitar. I put in an Invader. Put the JB back in. Put in a Distortion. Put the JB back in. Put in EMG 81s. Put the JB back in...

I believe the moral of the story is quite clear :)

Re: Everytime I think I've made up my mind...

yeah, I feel like I really have to JB it. I love that pickup way too much to pass up on it.
