For those of you that may have ordered he EVH Frankenstein pickup, you may have noticed that the release date of both the relic and non-relic versions keeps getting pushed back (the availability of the relic is now 06/08/09)! What exactly is behind this delay? Is it a manufacturing problem? Is a it a distribution problem? Is there a legal issue? Why bother to annouce a product that isn't even deliverable?:wrf:

when i see a guitar on back order like at guitar center or musicain friend the back order date seem to always changes. I ordered a guitar at one time and it was on backorder till next week and then it was moved to 2 weeks and so on so I just cancelled it ,screw it. I had guitar center order it from out of state. when your waiting on a shipment things usually dont go as planned when coming from the factories. Sometimes it will come in before the date posted.

Well, with the Internet as a crutch, M$ pumps out half-baked goods and sends fixes and updates on a regular basis - so much that you can't use the computer for more than surfing and email and updating the ever-expanding, memory-hogging, drive-filling OS.
As for the pickup - Ed's re-winding them all by hand like he did his originals, but he keeps losing count and has to start over :lol:

Its a shame its so expensive for a relic, although I have little doubt they'll sell them at that price point, $399 would be reasonable to a die hard fan.

I´v always wondered how many people are gonna be pissed off when they find out that one coil is a bit knackered.... at least if this is really a copy of the PU in the 25K Frankies, I´m fairly certain that one coil had electrical issues that were purposefully reproduced

^^ which will sound completely different so it´s not really a viable option
The PU that was in the EVH I played was definitely neither a CC nor a ´78, it was significantly clearer, more open and lower output than the CC... the ´78 would have been closer, but to my ears still not on the money..

well, my point was just that there's so many options out there, and for me it's cool if you have a bit of someone else's vibe in you're tone(some of the brown/vh sound in the CC), but going entirely for another sound completely is a bit anal. i know that's the point of this thread however, so just disregard my comments i guess
