Expensive titanium replacement saddles vs graphtech...

Graphtech are a third of the price of the KTS ones. It'd be for my Musicman Axis Sport.

I'd like to hear what you guys who've tried these think. I like Graphtechs but mostly because they're cheap and readily available. I however am willing to go the whole nine yards for this guitar. But I've never tried these expensive saddles...

What can y'all tell me?

What do you want them for?

change of tone or to avoid string breakage?

what kind do you have on your guitar now? bent steel?

I'm not sold on the advantages of titanium for guitar parts yet. Light and strong.....yes, enough difference in tone to justify the expense....not sure. I am a huge fan of graphtech saddles. They impart a slightly warmer tone to the instrument and above that almost eliminate any string breakage at the saddle.

I've put them (graphtech) on USA Strat 2 point trems and on Les Paul ABR-1 bridges and have like both.

What kind of saddles are on your guitar now? A pic or link would be helpful. Also, do you just want to avoid string breakage or are you looking to change the tone? If you want a brighter, more vintage tone (and assuming they make a saddle to fit your bridge) I would recommend Callaham for a hardened steel saddle that will brighten things up and nearly eliminate string breakage as well.

On my last 2 strats I changed at least the saddles (vintage 6 screw trems) to Callaham and have been extremely happy.....and I have yet to break a string on a guitar with Callaham saddles. The last string I broke was on a standard USA Fender saddle and a Gibson saddle.

A little more info will help us give you a better opinion, based on what you want to achieve.

I simply need new saddles, the existing ones' adjustment screws have rusted on the saddles and can't be adjusted anymore. So they simply need a replacement.
Right now it has Fender style saddles, but my spare HW1 saddles are a little bit wider and as such can't be used :(

I'll take GraphTech over almost anything. They do exactly what they say they will do and, you're correct, are reasonably priced.

Pierre...you need Gwarllaham Uranium saddles with extra mass distributors....
Or just get another set of Gotohs like those on the pictures...or clean those up in a petrol bath....;)

Thanks Niels. Not sure where I can order that for a decent price to Luxembourg... One particular set of the KTS saddles are decently priced btu still twice as much as graphtechs. My only attraction to graphtechs is that they're easily available anywhere and cheap.. :P!

Pierre, Gotoh Block steel saddles work well, I have them on my Silhouette Special.

If not, send me postage and I'll send you my original Musicman bent saddles, I never liked them, so took them off immediately.

I tried Ti saddles and they were a waste of money.

I'm a fan of the Graphtech String Saver Saddles...Like Jeff H said,they shave an ever so slight bit of highend off,but it's not as bad as breaking strings at the bridge..My SG used to eat strings at the bridge on the first 3 strings...I use these saddles on both my SG and my new AS73 335 copy Ibanez.

Is that picture a Right-handed guitar you've converted to a lefty? the bridge seems to be angling the wrong way?

I have GraphTech String Saver saddles on my Squier VM Telecaster Custom II. These are solid metal saddles with a self-lubricating black insert in the groove where the string passes. Very like the Stevie Ray Vaughan plastic insulation tubing trick. Of more interest to the OP, these saddles are available in both "American" and "Import" widths.
