"Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

Thanks for posting this man, I recently had an SG that was supposed to be built for me fall through, I think I'll do the SG Jr kit these guys have, they actually have the paint I want too...

I heard it
I heard it
I heard it on the X.

In all seriousness, they should've had a top/back rout option.

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

I built one of these :https://buy.precisionguitarkits.com/product/lp-59-carved-top-our-best-seller

I can say without a speck of doubt that they make AWESOME kits

Yeah, I've been eyeing their '59 kits myself. I used to have an '82 Gibson Les Paul Standard that I ended up pawning back in 2001, along with alot if other stuff, because I was flat broke. It's the only guitar I've sold that I still pine for. I still remember the serial number and all the places the finish was worn off. So one of these days I want to get one of those '59 kits and make myself a reproduction on my old '82.

****n $379? No way would i pay that, i would Get an old vintage ibby destroyer and refinish it or something along those lines before spending that money

edit...Oh it has a quartersawn neck, yeah that is pretty cool

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

I'm waiting for a http://buy.precisionguitarkits.com/product/59-carved-top-shaped-heel-belly-cut-bound-flamed to come through.

I'm having them paint it with a 59 burst. I understand it been glued up, and has had the sanding sealer done and will be due to got to paint next week. I cant wait!

Awesome . . . please post some pics of that when it eventually shows up ! I'm wondering if the paint/finish is the same high standard as their wood quality . . .

A older Ibanez Destroyer for less than $379?

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

I got my Destroyer body for $50, but it has a $300 neck on it.

Yeah man, DT-150.

Those kits look cool, white limba as neck wood though? I know it compares to mahogany, how's it hold up on a neck? I'd prefer maple either way, myself.

It's what original 1958 Explorer necks were made of and those seem to hold up well. Hamer made some with Korina necks.

Look forward to your review!! The X kit really has me drooling as Id like another Explorer, but cant justify the expense. If I were to build one.. I could piece together and have a made it myself "trophy". haha As long as its good quality stuff and good fit and finish.. the LP kits are intriguing too.

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

Ill be sure to post some pics and a review as soon as I get it. My main concern is that it doesn't get damaged when it gets shipped here to sunny England!

Re: "Explorer" now available from Precision Guitar Kits

Just a heads up : shipping anywhere in N.A. is free until the end of April, and there is a $45 discount to ship internationally. I only just found this out and wish I had planned for it, but anyone who was ready to buy a Precision Guitar Kit, now would be a good time . . . Happy 4/20 / Easter
