External Speaker Cab?

Hey guys, I have a Peavey Classic Chorus 212 solid state combo and I was wondering if I can use an external speaker cab with it? I have had this amp since about 1990 and never had the need for a cab but since a friend has one for sale cheap I thought, Why not?

I was surprised that there was no jack for an "EXT SPEAKER". The only four 1/4" jacks on the back are labeled:
Power Amp inputs 1 & 2
Preamp Out Mix 2
Preamp Out Dry 1

Is it possible to connect the cab to one of the Preamp out jacks?
The manual says connect the preamp out jacks to a tape recorder, mixer, outboard power amp, etc...

I don't have the cab here, I thought I would ask you all before I have him haul it.

Thank You Very Much!
MJ

Re: External Speaker Cab?

"Preamp out" is for outputting to a power amp or for recording. This wont drive a cab :) You would have to take the wires that go to the speakers and make an output for the cab. I dont advise you do this, and if u like the speakers in there just fine, dont change them out! Hope i helped, someone more qualified will most likely answer

Re: External Speaker Cab?

You could use an extension cab if you wanted, but I wouldn't really suggest it. Yo'd get in to resistance matching etc, and like the dude said, rewiring (but u can do it without soldering!).
