Yes, do you know any fairly priced small tube combo's (heads will do too, if they aren't expensive). And generally I mean the price for used combo's/head's, but if you know any fairly priced NEW combo's/head's, feel free to recommend.

I'm a 17 year old guy, and I have no job, I'm just saying it so you get an impression of what I might be able to afford or not.

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

what type of music do you want to play?

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

Well, I don't know really, sometimes I play alot of clean stuff, but I'm also interested in playing rock stuff..maybe van halen type stuff, just so you get an idea.

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

is this for live or just rehersal/home use? im a big fan of the blues jr and it isnt horribly expensive. there are other small tube amps in a similar price range over here but im not sure how differently priced things are over there.
a blues jr costs US$400
what are they over there?

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

crate vfx30
crate vfx5112
traynor ycv50blue
peavey classic 30

even those crate palomino tube amps that guitar center sells are pretty good.

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

Marshall DSL 201, discontinued so any shops still stocking it will be happy to drop their prices a bit...

otherwise, get a NEW DSL401.. you want the warranty on it, otherwise they're lovely little amps :)

Hmm, aren't they pretty expensive?

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

the Crate V1512 is very similar to the blues junior in basic stats but has a lot more gain. The prices are pretty similar list but I got my V1512 really cheap.

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

depends where you are man.. they're made in england, so it's a completely different ballpark for buyers.. they're probably among the cheapest all-valve stuff around in the UK, as well as ashdown, laney, etc.. keep in mind UK distribution for crate and peavey isnt all that good, so i can't really comment on them!

speaking of which, i do like the ashdown peacemaker 30, and the laney VC30. there's a VC15 too, if you're looking for small tube combo you might be in with a shot! :)

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

Epuphone do a 5w Valve amp that's s'pposed to be pretty good.

It's very cheap too (something like $120 if I remember correctly).

Re: fairly priced small tube combo?

i think it's like a single 12AU7 or something silly and low gain man.. for all valve tone, see if you can hunt down a fender champ practice amp.. 4w all valve, and surprisingly loud!
