Fake or not fake

Re: Fake or not fake

Hard to tell as all of the pictures look like they have been elongated slightly. Nothing really screams fake to me, but then again I don't know Epiphones very well.

Re: Fake or not fake

looks like the 100 series kinda. But for 85 buck, talk him down to 70 and hell you got a nice little project on your hands maybe.

Re: Fake or not fake

Why would somebody make a fake Epiphone? That's like counterfeiting $1 bills.

Gibson owns Epiphone so I don't see any deception going on. People sell "Squier by Fender" all the time. Well, it's true!

Although I think an mid-grade Epi with a non-working neck pup should be more like $50.

Re: Fake or not fake

Yea.. if you weren't joking why not shell out another 40 bucks or so and get a new one?

Re: Fake or not fake

Yeah, looks like the cheap bolt on version. Not a bad guitar, but really not worth messing with. Is it worth $85? Maybe.

Re: Fake or not fake

Honestly, if I wanted a bolt-on Lester, I'd spend a little more and build a Warmoth. Of course, you can spend as much as a real Gibson with Warmoth though, depending on how crazy you get with finishes, body wood types, bindings, etc.

Believe it, or not, there are a LOT of fake Epi's out there. There isn't much of anything that the Chinese aren't counterfeiting, these days.

This one looks real, but, personally, I wouldn't bother with it. There are a lot of much better guitars out there, to be had cheaply.

Re: Fake or not fake

I've said it before and I'll say it again.......................

Here's how it is.

Epiphone makes cheap fake Gibson Les Pauls in China or some other Asian country.

Blackmarket makes cheap fake Epiphone Les Pauls in China or some other Asian country.

Either way your getting a fake Les Paul.

Re: Fake or not fake

If its not fake, I got a standard epi humbucker that I can put in it, if I buy it from this guy on Craigslist. Make it a project. At least I know if its a real epi...it would pass through some sort of Quality Control

But if its fake then.....fuhgeddaboutit

Re: Fake or not fake

Yea.... Gotta love how people think throwing the word Gibson around is going to increase their chances of a sale.

what's sad is that gibson does it to themselves...listing epis and other brands with the gibbys on gibson.com....so annoying when I'm trying to look at stuff

Re: Fake or not fake

Fake or not, the guitar is a low budget SE Asian immitation of a famous American design, lovingly fashioned from plywood. IMO, the decal on the headstock is the least of your worries. Pay as little as possible and experiment to your heart's content.

Re: Fake or not fake

waste of money dude

i mean any guitar that works is worth about $100 but this one NEEDS work and sells new for $100

passola
