Faulty SD Custom Shop Humbucker (double cream, aged cover)

Guitarist

Mesa-ologist
SOLD ... payment pending

What must have been a year ago, I ordered a Custom Shop neck 'bucker in double cream with the aged nickel cover. A2 mag, 7.8K resistance.

When the pup arrived, I immediately went to my soldering iron and put it in there, but the pickup wouldn't work - it sounded like one of the coils was turned off. Pretty cool, but also a bit noisy and I knew something was not right. I thought it had been my poor installation and took the guitar to a tech for a re-solder.

Re-soldering the pup didn't do it. The technician, Mike Lull, told me that the pickup had a sort of 60's cycling hum.

So I called up SD and they just sent me another one. I didn't even have to return the faulty one.

Anyway, the pup has been sitting in its box for all this time and I'm certainly not doing anything with it. If anyone is interested in taking in this pickup, whether for the cream coils, the mag, the aged cover, or with the intent to fix it up, it's yours for $30 shipped.

I don't have any pics of the pup, but it looks just like this..

So what was the wind, Jazz,PG,Seth etc? Or was it based on something different all together?

The wind wasn't really based on anything per se... I just said that I wanted it to be PAF-like, throaty, warm, and woody. MJ took the liberty to call most of the specs.

Specs appear to be similar to those of the Alnico II pro and the Antiquity, but lightly potted.
