Favorite jazz-guitar album

Re: Favorite jazz-guitar album

Anything by Pat Martino is phenomenal. If you want some old school try to find something with Grant Green on it. If you want REAL old school get a Django Reinhardt anthology and see where everyone got it.
Everything Joe Pass did was great too.

Re: Favorite jazz-guitar album

You should try Lee Ritneur ("Alive in LA" is a cool album) or Scofield

Re: Favorite jazz-guitar album

Anything by Wes Montgomery. I'd start with one of his "Best of..." collections.

Re: Favorite jazz-guitar album

"Boss Guitar" is badass. "Smokin' @ the Half Note" is another great Wes lp.

"The Quintessential Charlie Christian" (2 cd set) is cool beyond belief!

Johnny Smith was great.

"El Hombre" Pat martino
Check out some Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell & Joe Pass also.

Check out Best of Grant Green Vol. 1. Don't know how old it is but it's definitely catchy. Pretty cool organ playing and an awesome sax solo.
