I currently have a set of PGs in my 58RI. I love the sound I get but would like to find a better bridge PU. I would like to get peoples opinions on what bridge PUs are in thier Pauls.

Well, mine has a Duncan Distortion in the bridge location. It's a thick sounding pup that overdrives beautifully. Clean it sounds pretty heavy, even dull, but when combined with the neck pup (a Pearly Gates) it gets a rich, complex tone that's great for lots of different styles. The DD is a nice in-between from the '59-PAF sound and the bone-crushing metal sound. Like I said, by itself, I'm not crazy about it, but distorted it's great, and with the neck pup clean it's great.

I use the Duncan Custom in three production Customs, a Standard Mahogany and an R7 Custom. I have a Voodoo '59 in an R7 goldtop. I love all of them for different reasons, but Jim Wagner has a new pickup for Hard Rock/Metal called "The Herc" that I'm thinking of trying some time.

I used a Pearly Gates set in my 1957 Reissue goldtop. After consulting here asking for advice how to get even closer to Beano and Bloomfield tones I bought antiquities, and never looked back.

Some say a magnet swap with antiquities gives great results. I didn't do that so I dunno.

I have one with Ants and the other with '59 but I just tried the Seths in one of my LPs and I think I will switch from '59s to Seths.

So Antiquity or Seth in bridge position for me ;)

My Custom amazes me daily. Perfect blend of tonal qualities. Don't ever think I'll be taking that one out of my Standard.

i love a pg but i have an overwound antiquity (9.4k) that is to die for. fat tone with a sweet clear high end

from the clips I've heard '59 has better crunch&clarity than seth's...but in the neck seth has more warmer sound than '59
...if I had a LP and looking for vintage sound I'd go for seth neck & '59 bridge...but I don't know if they cooperate well in the middle position though...

seth & antiquity

seth & antiquity

The Antiquity has an airy high end, with complex mids. The Seth will be a little more solid in the midrange. Output is about equal.
