Favorite Neck Pup for METAL?

Guitarist

Mesa-ologist
I've been considering of coupling a SH-6b with the SH-6n or possibly a SH-1n. I'm familiar with the 59 in the neck so if you could make comparisons to the tone structure of the SH-1, that would be excellent. Feel free to recommend a different model, just elaborate on your recommendation and tell me why you believe it's the best for metal. Thanks a lot guys.

This should go into a Les Paul.

I really like a JB in the neck for metal, although the SH-6n is no slouch.

Re: Favorite Neck Pup for METAL?

I would say throw another DD in there, it's thrasy, plenty of crunch, and it matches with the DD in the bridge, output wise.

DD-n. Didn't care for it matched with the DD-b. But with a JB in the bridge it did the trick. Check out www.Autumnsend.com Their lead guitarist/vocalist uses that combp.

How does that sound in the neck...I know I didn't like the looseness of the bridge model.

Re: Favorite Neck Pup for METAL?

It has really nice clarity, but it was too aggressive for what I like to play. The JB in the neck actually sounds warm, very bluesy. And it matched well with a Custom in the bridge.
