FCB1010 with Behringer V-Amp Pro?

Does anyone have this setup? I'm looking to get the FCB for my V-Amp Pro but had some questions....

Hard to setup? I'm new with Midi but I can easily learn.

Does it have a delay when switching channels? When I switch channels manually there is about a second of delay which kills me.

From the pedal, can I easily add delay/chorus and other effects from going to rhythm to solo?

Here is my V-Amp Pro

Here is the FCB1010

Thanks for any help.

I have only a little imput for you... but a local act has 2 guitarists that use these in a rack... they play and sing along to pre-recorded backing tracks on a lap top... the lap top controlls the backing tracks, the lighting, and the patch changes in the V-Amps all at the same time.... and none of it has a pause when changing... so i "assume" with a midi controll board it should be fine as well....

being a 2 man band they keep more of the money... LOL

Re: FCB1010 with Behringer V-Amp Pro?

I have a V-Amp Pro, but not the FCB1010. The main source of delay in switching patches on the V-Amp series is changing cabinet models. So if you can use the same cabinet model for all the patches used in a song, you'll find things much less frustrating.

Note that you can change amp model and effects much faster, so you still get a fair array of tones, if you can find a cabinet that works for all the sounds you need. And if you can set it up so that cabinet model switches only happen during pauses between songs or pauses in playing, that works too.

I believe the v-amp/fcb allow you to specify what the treadles control, so you have variable gain or delay or use it for the wah. For changing what effects are controlled or which effects are there, you will want to do that by switching patches to do it quickly.

By the way, the midi editor exposes some features not readily accessed, like an extra (fixed without the midi pedal) wah in the preamp section, or the global eq, and gives names instead of numbers for the cabinet & room types.

I don't change my cab sim. Always leave it, I just change from clean to distortion to solo channels. I have all of them set up, I just hate manually changing channels. I have the old v-amp, no delay, comes with a pedal, thing was good, but didn't sound as good.

Re: FCB1010 with Behringer V-Amp Pro?

Do you mean you don't change your cabinet sim from default from the amp, or that you have your patches set up to all use the same cabinet sim?

If you switch from "American Blues" (4x10) to "Brit Hi Gain" (4x12), you get switching delay. If you switch them both to say the boutique 2x12, no switching delay between those patches.

V-Amp 2 and V-Amp Pro are the same thing, except the Pro is rackmount and has more output options for studio use (don't think the blob model has the pre & post DSP inserts or the digital output). Both have same behavior for patch switching. The Pro loses the ability to use the non-pro's pedal, which is a shame as I have one (my first V-Amp released it's magic smoke in amp power transformer failure that also electrocuted me, fun fun).

Re: FCB1010 with Behringer V-Amp Pro?

No there are differences, and one major one to me is the delay. When I change on my v_amp pro from channel a (clean) to channel b (distortion) I get a delay. Switching channels I get a delay, not the effects itself. When the v amp, I could change it like no problem with no delay.

I use my v-amp pro for all my sound, my amp just to push the sound and add a bit of natural sound (especially low end) I leave my amp on clean, and use the v-amp for my sounds.

Re: FCB1010 with Behringer V-Amp Pro?

I had a V-Amp 2 before it got fried when the power amp's power transformer failed and electrocuted me through it. But I had the exact same behavior with it and the Pro for switching delays.

If you aren't comparing switching between identical patches on both, it's a pears to pineapples comparison. If you are talking about original V-Amp vs 2/Pro, sad that fast switching was lost...

If you are running into a real amp, do you have the cabinet models disabled on your patches?

No on my pro I have the cabs set on 15, and it sounds ungodly heavy and beefy, I have it running into 2 amps, one more bassy for low end boom, and the other more on the highs, gives me a nice stereo 3d sound.

And as for my original question, I guess I'm stuck with that little delay huh?

And anyone set it up with the fcb? Easy, hard? Worth it?

Thanks
